David (Fisher) vs (the GCSB) Goliath

The GCSB attempting to secure the transcripts of author and journalist David Fisher’s interviews with Kim Dotcom is outrageous.

The ramifications for those of us who do research are obvious. Who will talk freely and frankly if they think their information will not be kept secure from the state?

But rest assured, David and no other writer or researcher worth their salt will ever give up information given to them by subjects.

The fact that the GCSB has threatened court action is bullyboy tactics of the worst kind. I will enthusiastically riot if they push this. Every writer and anybody concerned with academic freedom should be outraged.

Damn the GCSB to bits. If you’re not currently on their watch list, you really should reconsider your behavior.

Maybe he could negotiate a deal? If they give Kim back his computers and cars and art and money and domain names, and apologise, he'll negotiate to see if Kim will tweet to them what he said?

I've just seen David's reply saying he wont give the transcripts up (good on him), but I'm secretly a bit disappointed he did use the words 'fuck' and 'off'.

From what I can tell, God listens to us less than the GCSB.
