I was a prison officer for twenty five years and the notion that prison will change a person is pie in the sky. It is totally not the environment for change. I would have thought that after forty years this,the penny would have dropped, that these programmes in prison are not working.I have suggested that all programmes be removed from prison and the money saved be put into a mandatory parenting. I also suggested that men who have committed a criminal offence for the very first time and no criminal background, be put in a seperate unit from all the rest, as I have sen a lot of these guys come back. This was received with derision, the same idiots who brought in the youth unit at Waikeria and has since closed as it did not work. 2/6/2022 06:52:58 pm
